Eric Lefkofsky is a Chicago-based philanthropist and current Chief Executive Officer of Tempus. Tempus is a biotechnology company based in Chicago for treating cancer patients. Moreover, Tempus is also an organization that examines therapeutic and molecular data and dispenses genomic sequencing services enabling physicians to make real-time, data-driven conclusions. Therefore, physicians can deliver personalized cancer care to patients. Additionally, the primary purpose of the company is to modernize cancer treatment, allowing patients to be treated based on the data collected from previous patients. This improves the quality of services being offered by the organization.

As the CEO, Eric Lefkofsky is committed to spreading the company’s influence both at national and international levels. Also, Eric is determined to perfect the company’s expertise and technology in cancer treatment to increase their impact in the society.

Apart from Tempus, Eric has also co-founded many other businesses such as InnerWorkings(a service provider in print procurement), and Echo Global Logistics (a leading supplier of supply chain management service and technology-enabled transportation). Additionally, he has also co-founded other companies including Groupon (a worldwide e-commerce marketplace), and lightbank(a capital firm that has expertise in investments in disruptive technology companies).

Aside from doing businesses, Eric Lefkofsky believes in giving back to the society and therefore, uses plenty of his resources on different charitable endeavors. Lefkofsky together with his wife Liz started the Lefkofsky Family Foundation in 2006.The goal of the foundation was to better the quality and living standards of the people in the community by funding resources needed in improving medical research, health care, arts and culture, fundamental human rights, and education. Eric is also an active board member in different Chicago-based organizations such as the Museum of Science and Industry, the Children’s Memorial Hospital, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Besides, Eric is also a trustee member of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company.

Eric Lefkofsky has written a book called “Accelerated Disruption.” In the book, Eric describes how disruptive businesses are started, and expanded. In his writing, Eric provides a conceptual and intellectual guideline for making your business ideas a reality. Accelerated Disruption is a type of business evolution that tends to adjust with the technological advancements at the same pace. Therefore, companies that can adapt to the changes in technology will survive while those businesses that will not adapt to the changes will be displaced.
